Wisconsin DWD: WI Among Leading States in Permanent Total Disability Weekly Rates

Written by: Previant Law Firm

If an employee suffers an extremely serious injury on the job that leaves them unable to work, Wisconsin law provides certain protections and benefits through the payment of permanent total disability benefits for life. The Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development (DWD) is responsible for evaluating the employee’s injuries to determine whether they qualify as permanent total disabilities.

Attorneys can help you pursue the compensation to which you are entitled if you have been permanently disabled on the job in Milwaukee or elsewhere in Wisconsin. According to state law, a permanent total disability may include any of the following types of injuries:

  • Loss of vision in both eyes
  • Loss of limbs — either both arms, both legs, or loss of an arm and a leg
  • Any other injury judged by the DWD to prevent you from working in the future

Any employee suffering such an injury may be entitled to permanent total disability payments, equaling two thirds of the employee’s average weekly salary rate, for the rest of their life. The DWD reports that, as of 2008, its weekly permanent total disability rate was among the highest in the nation, ranked 13th out of 51 jurisdictions.

Our Milwaukee permanent total disability attorneys can help ensure you receive the essential compensation you need for your future financial stability.

At The Previant Law Firm, S.C., our compassionate attorneys understand the challenges you and your loved ones face following a permanent total disability.
